We’re looking for passionate, community-minded individuals to help shape the future of YEAH! by joining our Board of Directors. If you believe in the power of music to inspire, uplift, and unite — we want to hear from you.

ABOUT YEAH!

YEAH! is a nonprofit organization committed to empowering youth voices through music education and creative collaboration. We offer socially conscious, year-round programs for youth ages 6–17, creating safe, inclusive spaces for self-expression and artistic growth.

We prioritize collaboration over competition, center youth voices, and actively engage with neurodivergent and LGBTQ+ youth, non-English speaking families, and Title 1 public school communities throughout Middle Tennessee.

Board Member Overview

YEAH!’s Board of Directors oversees our mission’s execution, ensures financial sustainability, and supports strategic growth. The board governs with integrity, insight, and a shared passion for youth empowerment through music and the arts.

  • Board Term: 2 years

  • Meetings: Monthly, hybrid (in-person/online)

Responsibilities

Board members play a vital role in YEAH!’s success. Members are expected to:

  • Dedicate at least 4 hours/month, including:

    • Monthly board meetings (2 hrs)

    • Monthly committee meetings (1 hr)

    • Attendance at 2 community events per year (1 hr/event)

    • Support for fundraising and advocacy efforts

    • Annual workshop-style meeting (3–4 hrs in October)

  • Serve on at least one committee:

    • Governance

    • Finance

    • Programs

    • Marketing

  • Make an annual contribution of $1,000, either as a direct donation or through in-kind/budget-relieving resources. Monthly donations of $80 are encouraged.

Who Should Apply

We’re seeking individuals who reflect the diverse communities we serve and are committed to music, youth, and equity. Ideal candidates will:

  • Be passionate about music and youth empowerment

  • Have experience in education, nonprofit leadership, arts, fundraising, marketing, law, finance, or community engagement

  • Bring lived experience and/or strong ties to diverse and marginalized communities

  • Have a track record of collaboration, communication, and commitment to equity

  • Be able to contribute to fundraising and strategic growth

  • (Preferred) Have prior board, nonprofit, or youth mentorship experience
