YEAH! SCHOLARSHIP POLICY
At YEAH!, we are committed to making music education accessible to all students, regardless of financial background. To ensure fairness and sustainability, we have established the following scholarship guidelines in alignment with best practices from the National Scholarship Providers Association (NSPA).
Scholarship Eligibility & Application Fee
Scholarships are awarded based on a personal statement explaining financial need (the scholarship application will include confirmation if their child qualifies for free or reduced lunches, or if they are a single-income household)
A non-refundable application fee of $25 is required to process scholarship applications. This fee helps cover administrative costs and ensures that scholarship funds are allocated efficiently.
Fee waivers may be available for applicants who demonstrate financial hardship and honest communication. Applicants should submit a fee waiver request form alongside their scholarship application, providing necessary documentation.
Commitment & Attendance Policy
Scholarship recipients are expected to attend all scheduled sessions and actively participate in the program.
If a recipient fails to attend without prior notice or a valid reason, they may be ineligible for future scholarships.
Transparency & Accountability
Scholarship funds are managed in compliance with IRS regulations and nonprofit best practices: Scholarships serve a broad public interest and are not limited to a small, private group, are awarded based financial need, are not used to compensate employees or provide financial benefits to insiders, are reported in Form 990, and our annual report, and are awarded fairly and equitably, without discrimination.
For questions or fee waiver requests, please contact director@yeahrocks.org.
Scholarship Recipient Attendance & Deposit Policy
To ensure commitment and responsible resource allocation, all full scholarship recipients must submit a $25 deposit via PayPal or Kindful upon acceptance. This deposit will be fully refunded after camp, provided the camper attends to the best of their ability.
If a camper does not attend, the deposit will be retained as a cancellation fee. This policy helps us manage staff and operational costs efficiently, ensuring that scholarship funds go to campers who are fully committed to participating.
We understand that unforeseen circumstances may arise, and exceptions will be considered on a case-by-case basis. If you have any questions or need further clarification, please contact us at director@yeahrocks.org
Handling refunds will add administrative time and possibly financial costs on our end. An alternative might be to charge the deposit only if a camper cancels, rather than requiring an upfront payment. This could create just as many challenges in collecting the fee
Confidentiality Commitment
YEAH! respects the privacy of all scholarship applicants and fee waiver requestors. All personal information provided in this application will be kept confidential and only shared with the designated scholarship review committee for the sole purpose of evaluating financial need. Your information will not be disclosed to third parties or used for any purpose outside of scholarship administration. If you have any privacy concerns, please contact director@yeahrocks.org.

🎵 General Scholarship Fund Application: At YEAH!, we believe every young person deserves the chance to experience the joy, growth, and empowerment that comes from making music in community. Our general scholarship fund exists to reduce financial barriers and ensure that camp is accessible to all who wish to participate.
This application is based on honor and trust. We ask families to share openly about what they can contribute toward the registration fee, knowing that whatever amount you are able to give helps us extend support to others as well. Our goal is to provide as much funding as possible toward your registration so that cost is never the reason someone misses out.
We are committed to making our programs a place where every voice is valued, and every young person can feel welcomed, encouraged, and inspired.
In a minimum of 250 words, please tell us: Why do you want to attend YEAH! camp and what excites you most about participating. How do you hope this experience will impact your growth as a musician, leader, or community member? If you’d like, share how you imagine giving back to the YEAH! community or supporting others in the future.
🎸 Next Up Venue Fund Application: Music venues are more than performance spaces - they are incubators for creativity, connection, and community. The Next Up Venue Fund Scholarship invites Nashville venues to invest in the next generation of artists and audiences by providing scholarships for youth ages 6-17 to attend YEAH! Rocks Music Camp in the summer and Rock Block, our year-round programming.
This scholarship is made possible through the generosity of local venues that believe in nurturing the future of music. Their support helps young people from all backgrounds access mentorship, music education, and creative expression. But it also does something deeper: it sustains the emotional storytelling, comfort, joy, and meaning that only music can offer - for both performers and audiences.
By participating in this fund, venues help cultivate not only future performers who may one day light up their own stages, but also a culture of creative expression that resonates far beyond the spotlight.
In a minimum of 250 words, please tell us: How music venues have shaped your experience of music, whether as a listener, performer, or community member. Why having access to YEAH! programming matters to you, and how you hope it will help you grow as a musician or as part of the creative community. If you’d like, share how you imagine contributing to the music community in the future - whether on stage, behind the scenes, or as a supporter of others.
🌈 The Crisi Manley Inclusivity Scholarship: (ONLY for a student from LaVergne Middle or LaVergne High School or Rutherford County students/residents) In memory of Christina "Crisi" Elizabeth Manley (Nov 17, 1981 - Aug 21, 2022). The Crisi Manley Inclusivity Scholarship honors the commitment and passion for inclusivity that long-time volunteer Crisi Manley shared with young people through her work as a beloved teacher and mentor at LaVergne Middle and High Schools. Crisi nurtured and inspired hundreds of students in the classroom and at camp, sharing her love of music, math, fashion, and Drag Race.

🦋 The Claire and Vic’s Chrysalis Cohort Scholarship is both a celebration and an opportunity for a trans/nonbinary youth. It celebrates the incredible YEAH! community and helps keep its values vibrant by providing program participation to its recipients. Victor began their journey with YEAH! as a camper and returned as a teacher, where they met Claire. Both have experienced and been supported by the power of YEAH! camps, which were not only about learning how to play music, but also as a place to feel welcomed and encouraged, no matter who you are. Claire and Vic hope this scholarship will serve as an investment towards the expansion and edification of you and our amazing community.
For this scholarship, in a minimum of 250 words, tell us about how music has, or you hope will help you develop comfort, strength, and courage to live an authentic life.
🎛 The Kelley Anderson Gear Scholarship: Kelley Anderson, co-founder of Southern Girls Rock Camp and YEAH!, is an amazing musician who is passionate about empowering youth to understand and use gear and technology of all types to express themselves.
For this scholarship, in a minimum of 250 words, tell us about how you currently use or want to use technology to express yourself.
🔍The Jeff (Ow!) Andrews Memorial Scholarship: Jeff Andrews lived and breathed music. Whether he was delivering earth-shaking metal screams, writing unforgettable guitar riffs, or sharing his excitement for new bands, his passion was contagious. Though he never quite shook his stage fright, Jeff’s performances were legendary—full of energy, theatrics, and heart. He loved discovering and promoting new music, always eager to introduce others to sounds they had never heard before. This scholarship honors Jeff’s lifelong dedication to music by supporting a young musician who is ready to explore, create, and find their voice at YEAH! Rocks Music Camp.
For this scholarship, in a minimum of 250 words, tell us about a musician you admire who expresses themselves with passion and confidence. How have they inspired you to take creative risks, explore new sounds, or find your way of expressing yourself through music?
